Gromyko's

Andrei Andreyevich Gromyko (1909 – 1989) was a Soviet politician and diplomat. There is a story that has Gromyko exiting a Washington hotel one morning and being asked by a reporter, "Minister Gromyko, did you enjoy your breakfast today?" His response was "Perhaps." (via Wikipedia)

When I was growing up, my grandpa, a midwestern businessman and sometimes disc jockey, always called me Gromyko.

When we filmed Solid Gold for an episode of Site & Sound, the guys told us a story about being Sade's band on an intergalactic tour.  That's a good way to describe their new supergroup GAYNGS, which includes Justin Vernon, the members of Megafaun, and about 20 others.

Blair, Hearts

This is the song in the background of the audio chapter of And The Heart Says Whatever that Andrew recorded.  Recently I learned that Andrew owns a stuffed pheasant and I can’t say I was surprised.

cookingthebooksshow:

From the Hips author Ceridwen Morris and her husband The Ask author Sam Lipsyte joined us for some Momofuku pork buns.  In the Awl comments Choire pointed out that there is a recipe for these available online, but I feel that it is inferior and that you should just buy the cookbook.  It’s a great cookbook — even if you never cook anything from it it’s fun to read and pretty to look at.  Sam and Ceridwen’s books are pretty good too.  Read a fun review of Sam’s book here.
